Fresh out of the workshop! This brand spanking new Mustang came in for a set of ST Suspension coilovers. 40mm lower at the front and 35mm lower at the rear got this beast sitting nice and flush without compromising ride quality or ability to go through those pesky driveways we see stanced cars beached on all too often…. The ride these ST XTA Coilovers provides is nice and precise yet not to stiff. It follows the road much better than stock and has increased the enjoyment level of this already wicked car immensely!

The 2017 Bathurst 12hr has been run and won. There was plenty of drama and chaos on the mountain this year however, the ASCRA run team of Ash Samadi, Dan Gaunt, and Matt Halliday came home with a brilliant 3rd in the Pro/Am class and 7th outright. 3rd in the Pro/Am class was the Hallmarc entry of Marc Cini, Lee Holdsworth and Dean Fiore also squeezing into the outright top ten in 9th place.
The other 2 finishers car 75 of Tander, Haase, and Mies grabbed 13th. And the 44 car of Marshall, Even’s and the Kounouris brothers came home in 11th. Mixed results for the Audi’s this year. The preparation is already in full swing for the opening round of the Australian GT Championship to be held at the Clipsal 500 in Adelaide early March.
Today marks a special occasion as we debut Adrian’s lovely Group 5 BMW Hat 320i. This car has been in restoration over the last 5 years here at MPC. It makes its debut today at Phillip Island GP track only days after its dyno run in. This car is set for historic endurance racing all over the globe, proudly wearing the tag of “restored by Melbourne Performance Centre”. Our in house historic guru Justin Nilsson has done a fabulous job throughout the whole build process and had a huge smile on his face as he pushed the car off into pit lane for the first time. Very much looking forward to updating you all on this cars travels over the coming years.

Greg Taylor pushed hard all weekend and brought home the trophies at the latest round of the Australian GT Trophy series which was held at Sydney Motorsport Park. Rob Smith also drove well and in sunday’s race was looking good for the win at one stage and ended up with a 3rd for the weekend result! The MPC crew also ran Rod Salmon & Mark Griffith in the Skwirk Mitsubishi Evo 10 in the Australian Manufacturers Championship races over the weekend. With a 250km race both saturday and sunday tested the pairs driving well into the early evening darkness both days.
With the trucks on the trip back from Barbagallo Rnd 3 of the Australian GT Championship we are sending best well wishes to Geoff Emery that sustained back injuries after a heavy crash into the barriers on the sunday morning race. Jamec Pem team owner Steven McLaughlan took out the honours in saturday’s race. Coming into Rnd 3 championship leaders James Koundouris and Marcus Marshall were looking strong but after some misfortune finished the round in 6th which dropped them to 3rd in the standings so far for 2016. Greg Taylor and Barton Mawer bounced back from 15th in saturday’s race to get well into the top 10 in sunday’s race.
The HQ Monaro of Steve and Rachelle Coad is set to tear up the tarmac at Targa Tasmania this week. The car has recently been racing in circuit events and was converted back to rally spec of the past months in preparation for its Targa return. We wish Steve and Rachelle the best over the week which will see the event clock over its 25th anniversary!
After a long and eventful 12hr race the #5 GT motorsports R8 LMS prepared by Melbourne Performance Centre has taken out class honours and 6th outright at the 2016 Liqui Moly Bathurst 12hr. MPC prepared 5 Audi R8’s for the event 4 of which were the all new LMS MY2016 versions. Rene Rast managed a stunning qualifying effort to put the 75 Jamec Pem car on the front row of the grid in second. But unfortunately suffered some minor issues throughout the race but managed to get back to 8th. The other 3 cars, 40, 74, and 9 all suffered damage and were not able to finish the grueling race which often breaks the hearts of the men and women who try to conquer it.
