Melbourne Performance Centre [MPC] has a reputation for building, maintaining and managing some of the best high performance and race cars in the region, a situation that just recently saw them invited to become one of few Audi Sport Customer Racing facilities outside of Germany.
Their niche is building, maintaining, transporting and supporting high performance and racing cars for gentlemen [and lady] racers from all walks of life. Every year since their inception in 2004, the company has continued to grow and achieve success.
Driving a racing car is challenging and enjoyable, however MPC exists because track time only accounts for the smallest proportion of the time and effort needed to field a competitive car. For the most part their clients don’t have that sort of spare time, which is where MPC provides the ideal solution. At any one time there are up to 40 superbly built and maintained cars in their workshops under the care of their professional MPC staff, including owners Lee Burley and Troy Russell.
MPC commenced operation when Lee was a mechanic, fabricating performance components and fittings for fast circuit racing and high performance road cars at a business where Troy was renting space for a few customer cars he was maintaining. Their combination of skills and talent along with the need for more space, led to the formation of MPC.
Initially working from a 220 square metre factory it became apparent that this would not be big enough for the future plans of the company. With the purchase of a Mainline AWD1500 4WD dynometer an additional 180 square metre factory was obtained within the same complex not long after. With this rapid expansion though it became apparent they would need larger premises, which led to their current 1000 square metre facility in Melbourne’s eastern suburbs.
This added space has allowed the team to expand further, adding metal fabrication and carbon composites divisions. The team’s race car transport capabilities have also grown with the addition of two transporters including the new state-of-the-art PH Motorsport B-Double.
Whilst MPC continued to grow and focus on their growing customer base, their ongoing success and capabilities did not go unnoticed by other companies either.
Audi Sport Germany enlisted the support of MPC’s staff and logistics on both their 2011 and 2012 factory assaults on the Bathurst 12-Hour. The relationship grew even further in late 2011, with MPC becoming the Audi Sport Customer Racing Satellite team in Australia.
That relationship provides MPC with direct support from Audi Sport Germany and as part of the arrangement they are the only Australian supplier of all Audi Sport race cars and spare parts.
Despite their constantly evolving operation they have not forgotten where it all started, nor the customers that got MPC to where it is today, and for that reason in 2017 they started MPC Auto Speed to carry on with all aspects of road car and high performance street cars, all the way to maintaining ex V8 supercars and tarmac rally cars they built all those years ago that are still competing today.
From general vehicle log book servicing, to full race car preparation and transport, MPC Auto Speed can provide the best level of professional service to suit all your needs.
